The third International Conference of Nanophotonics in Harbin, China

The EO program successfully organized the third International Conference of Nanophotonics in Harbin, China. This is one of the topical conference sponsored by the Optical Society of America. Prof. Qiwen Zhan served as the conference co-chairs, along with Prof. Qihuang Gong from Peking University and Prof. Xiudong Sun from Harbin Institute of Technology. Prof. Joseph Haus served as the technical committee co-chair. Prof. Haus and Prof. Zhan also gave a short course on "Nanophotonics" at the conference. The next conference will be held from May 31-June 3, 2010 in Tsukuba, Japan.

Zhi Wu, an EO Ph.D. candidate, presented his work on "Long-range Surface Plasmon Excitations on Gain Assisted Metal Gratings" at the Third International Conference on Nanophotonics held in Harbin, China from May 11-May 14, 2009. 

Another paper "Surface Plasmon Excitation on Annular Metallic Slits With Radially Polarized Illumination" by Weibin Chen, an EO Ph.D. candidate, was also presented at the conference.
