Lockheed Martin Corp. has become a sponsor of the Oakwood high school Science Olympiad team. The team will be created and coached by Igor Anisimov, LOCI Sr. Research Engineer. This year Igor has already created a high school Physics team with some students having participated in the 2009 National Physics Bowl.
Pictured are Igor and five of the high school student participants after the contest took place at LOCI on April 11, 2009. Next school year, many Oakwood high school students will have an opportunity to try their knowledge in the Science Olympiad and be on a team managed by fellow students. This is a new approach that Igor will implement into the student teams to cultivate student leadership and individual team building skills.
